Below in my blog post I mentioned Sarah Palin's use of the term "hockey moms", when I said I made fun of her folksy terms I meant just that. I have in the past made fun of her folksy terms, which I won't do anymore (see blog post), but I wasn't referring to making fun of hockey moms, just the folksy term if that makes sense.

I sat down to watch "Utopia", from Series 3 Doctor Who, what else, and that debate last night just wouldn't let me stop watching it in my head. I said I wasn't going to blog about politics anymore, because it makes my head hurt and here I am going back on my word, again. Jeez.

Chris Matthews, on MSNBC observed that it seemed like a spelling bee for Sarah Palin. I had a similar take only I thought it seemed like she was addressing the PTA (Parent Teacher's Association). Every talking point was crammed in her head like someone packing for a trip but they had to sit on the suitcase to shut it, by her debate prep people. Her astounding inability to grasp complex ideas and her parroting of Republican talking points seemed in stark contrast to Joe Biden's knowledge and grasp of issues in a complex world environment.

If you thought this was going to just be about bashing Sarah Palin, it's not. I actually am feeling sorry for her. She is being used as a prop. If it wasn't for her, McCain would be to use a boxing term, KO'd in the first round. He is still in the ring due to Sarah Palin. I get the feeling they are laughing at her and embarrassed by her lack of knowledge but they know her appearances gets the Republican base fired up.

Supporting my theory that those around don't respect Sarah Palin is the fact that they will no longer LET her do any interviews and they didn't even tell her the campaign was pulling out of Michigan. They aren't telling her ANYTHING and that speaks volumes. They are trotting her out as a prop for campaigns when they find her useful. That's just sad.

It is easy to make fun of her "you betchas" and "hockey moms" and I know I have, but I get the sense that no one is making more fun of her than is the McCain campaign. She is in over her head and they know it. She may have made a good mayor of Wasilla, I have no idea one way or the other. She may have been an effective Governor of Alaska. I don't know that either, but I can tell that the complex greater world is just alien to her. It's not fair to the country and it's not fair to Sarah Palin.

The McCain campaign has been a mean spirited campaign focused on minutia and half truths but none of that compares to how mean it is being to Sarah Palin. That is not nice.

I think I will go back to watching Doctor Who.
