  • The Bail out and the Fall out

Without rehashing what has been said in the past few days, there is something that's being totally left out of the conversation on the US economy and the world economy. It is easy to blame a monolithic Wall Street and the US Government but some of the blame for this is looking right at us in the mirror. I include myself in this. Politicians don't have the courage to say that yes, you the general public are also to blame for this, too chicken. Who is rushing to Walmart to buy a 52 inch plasma tv that they don't have the money for? Well it's us. Beside not having the courage to pass a proper checks and balances bill the US government is too chicken to say to the American people. Now you need to start saving and buy what you can afford and maybe just maybe see that less is more.

Do you really have to drive a Lexus when a Chevy Cobalt or Toyota Corolla will do? Maybe a 36 inch Tv is all you need. Until we develop a culture of less is more and I don't have to have the best of everything, we will continue to have these problems. That doesn't mean not have things or not to enjoy life it just means maybe getting a basic mobile phone instead of an I-phone. It's not popular for governments to tell their populations, "hey you are just as greedy as we are", but it's the truth.

This bail out bill needs to pass in the US Congress but it needs to include provisions that reinvest in the US itself by rebuilding infrastructure and rebuild the country. This bill does need to pass. However everyone, and this includes the rest of the world, needs to start asking themselves how can I make this better?

In the US when Barack Obama said to use a tire gauge to check on tire pressure to help save energy. The hoots from the far right could be heard all over the US but it is just those types of things that DO HELP. Turning off lights, replacing old light bulbs with energy saving new ones. In short just treating the world as you would want to be treated. Oh my, isn't that what we were taught in Sunday school?

Now I will step down off my soapbox and see what I can do myself. I am going to buy store grocery bags that are reusable this week so I end the plastic or paper controversy that plagues me week in and week out.

    Have a great day all
    cheers.

  • UK Family Tree and Tea

For fun I checked out my family history on the internet. Did some really deep digging and I was pretty surprised. My family originates from Yorkshire and Hull tracing back to 1100 thereabouts. One family member was beheaded, along with his first born by, King James 1 as being a traitor, bit of bad news there. Another family member was apparently a Knight, bit of good news there I suppose.

So as I go make myself a cup of tea I will drink it to my family and to all those living in Yorkshire and Hull.

    cheers,
    Cassie

  • A Hard Day's Night

Humph. I got home from work and and collapsed this afternoon. We received a four page list of new "rules" and a point system. I can get a point off if I accidentally sniffle or sneeze on a customer on the phone. :( I was not a happy camper.

I turned on the telly and guess what was on. "A Hard Day's Night" with The Beatles (God love 'em). I have to say it cheered me up for awhile. I actually knew the dialogue as a child word for word and can still recite most of it along with the movie. So here's to John, Paul (squeal)George and Ringo. Ta and thanks for the best music ever!!

  • John McCain ditches David Letterman

Have you seen this. John McCain was supposed to be on David Letterman. It seems like someone got caught in a small fib.

  • AMERICA:GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE!

Yes. you heard right, America is going out of business and is on sale. All items and states must be sold. This is a red hot liquidation sale. America is going out of business but you must act quickly. We will not be undersold!!!

    FOR SALE CHEAP!!

  • Won't You take me to Funky Town

Hey it's another exciting Saturday and here I am just watching telly. Going to get up in a minute and start my exercises. I am learning martial arts. Yeah I know, it's funny but it beats regular exercise. At least I can Matrix someone. While I am practicing I listen to great 1980's tunes, they are perfect for martial arts and Matrix moves. So the first song up is Funky Town. I found this awesome picture of David Tennant to set the mood - Ten in Funky Town.

  • David Morrissey the Eleventh Doctor!!?

The buzz going around the internet this week is the printing of the excerpt from Russell T. Davies new book, that seems to indicate that David Morrissey is the next Doctor. Is this true or is it just misinformation designed to torture Doctor Who fans like myself.

  • The Whizzards of Wall Street

The US economy is in a free fall and The Feds have decided to pump money into the housing market believing that will shore up the US economy. Here's the tiny little fly in that ointment. The market crisis began when lenders provided mortgages to any warm body, whether they could pay the money back or not. In most intelligent systems it is required to show that you can pay back the mortgage loan. Secondly, Americans have had it shoved down their throats that home ownership is the only way in the US to realise the American dream, not through intelligent saving and wise investments.
Even a fifth grader could tell you that banks, corporations don't work well on the honor system, the Republican and some Democrats too, notion of no regulation to stimulate growth is absurd. No rules equals unbridled greed. Lesson learned huh?
Also another point is lost on all these financial wizards, who are whizzing away the assets of the US, is that you can pump all the money into the mortgage, bank and financial industry you want to pump up housing but until potential homeowners make ENOUGH MONEY to pay back loans you are just spitting into the wind. If there is no one who can afford to buy homes, all that money pumped into housing is for nothing.
A fifth grader could tell you when you base your economy on "buying stuff" and not on a savings-based economy it is all going to go down the tubes eventually. Until someone in the government and the Federal Reserve understands that good jobs with good pay and the encouragement of saving. and not spending too much is the fundamental to a good economy, we are only getting nowhere fast. Right now we are a country with a government with the porch light on but no one is at home.

  • Stop the Insanity! John McCain invents the Blackberry!

I promised myself I would remain out of the political circus as it was really making my head hurt. But after seeing the video clip of a John McCain political advisor saying that John McCain was primarily responsible for inventing the BlackBerry. I just nearly fell off my chair laughing. This was a momentary political lapse. I promise no more.

  • Groceries and cleaning

You would think I would actually have something to blog about tonight but no. Nice cool day here 65 farenheit, nice breeze coming through the window, thanks to Ike. Did I make any monumental discoveries? Did I actually learn something? No. I cleaned and went out shopping for these. I really had a good day though. No headaches, just a nice day.

  • Ike is on the way and yesterday's Tornadoes

Here is the weather for tonight and tomorrow. We are supposed to get what is left of Ike tomorrow. It's batten down the hatches, I say.

and here is one of the Tornadoes that hit near me.

  • Tornado Warning

I was just going to spend some time watching the news and we just got a Tornado Warning on the tv.

From my local tv station online:
    LATE-BREAKING NEWS: Tornado Warnings Issued

I hate going to the basement. Me and the kitties are staying upstairs. I can take them to the bathroom if things get bad and we can hide in the bathtub. You get in the bathtub and put a blanket over you.

Yikes here go the Tornado sirens. Wish us luck you guys...

  • More Rain and Hurricane Ike

It's raining again and it will apparently continue to do so for days here. Hurricane Ike will add to the rain total as it's remnants make their way through the Southern Midwest. My thoughts and prayers to those along the Coast. Also save some hopeful thoughts for those trapped. It is my understanding from the news that there is concern that some handicapped individuals have been left behind in Galveston. I hope and pray they are rescued.

  • Sharing music

I was quietly reading the paper a little while ago and I had the sliding glass door open as it was warm and wanted to get some air. Slouched in my comfy chair with cats napping in the other chairs, when I was treated to the sound of music. Now it wasn't a horrible choice, something from the 1970's Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young but my throbbing head failed to appreciate the melodious tunes. I really couldn't complain because it could have been a lot worse and it could have gone on for a really long time, but it didn't. It's just when your head hurts, music is just noise.

All of which brings me to my point. How do you feel about people "sharing" their music? If you are in your car and someone pulls up along side with the base thumping in your head or if you are patiently waiting for the bus, train, tube or trolley and you hear the "boom boom" of someone coming up next to you and they are wanting to share their music with you. It is not appreciated.

    What are your experiences?
