Went to work today and came home and sat down to watch the political coverage. It's a hot day in Kansas so cranked up the air conditioning. Curled up on the couch with the cats, gabbie and captain Jack Harkness. Watched on MSNBC the announcement of Joe Biden for vice president. It was an electrifying crowd of over 10,000. They contrasted that with John McCain's campaign stop where there were five guys and a cricket. Too funny. I have been thinking about the post on the welovetorchwood blog regarding David Tennant unable to watch Catherine Tate's play without fan interference. That may be the reason Chris Eccleston quit early. He saw that kind of thing coming so he got out early. Well, I am going back to watching politics. Have a good one.

Being an ordinary person, I had no idea how bad it is for Tennant and other famous people. I have coworkers whose 20 year old son's get calls 24/7 from girls chasing them. Imagine what it is like for famous men! It seems like there isn't a sense of humility or even innate politeness about some women and fans in particular.
I agree with you, I think his intention WAS to stay in the role for some time, but with the acceleration in craziness I think he may actually leave at the end of the specials, despite what people think.

How are the two cats getting along these days?
Yeah, I sometimes wonder if this is all getting to Tennant--especially with that nutjob woman stalking him in Stratford earlier this year.
I saw a couple of pics of him and what I assume is his girlfriend or whatever, coming out of the theater, tennant looked harrassed and totally unhappy.
I saw a Youtube video that someone sent me, of people coming up to Davies at Tennant's performance a week ago, and theater ushers had to tell people to go sit down, 'cos they were coming up to him in the theatre pointing camera phones at him and touching him and asking for his autograph as he was sitting there, waiting for the performance. What a bother people are!
Some of these female fans really can be pretty discourteous and obnoxious, I think. They think that Tennant is there just for them alone, and forget the man's a human being with a life of his own, outside of celebrity.
I don't know, the minute someone becomes "famous' suddenly they are a virtual slave to fans who think they own public figures. Glad I'm not famous!
I tend to think he will quit --to get away from the craziness-- before the 2010 series, though the BBC is offering him 1.3 or 1.5 million and lots of offers for more work on the BBC.
