  • Sharing music

I was quietly reading the paper a little while ago and I had the sliding glass door open as it was warm and wanted to get some air. Slouched in my comfy chair with cats napping in the other chairs, when I was treated to the sound of music. Now it wasn't a horrible choice, something from the 1970's Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young but my throbbing head failed to appreciate the melodious tunes. I really couldn't complain because it could have been a lot worse and it could have gone on for a really long time, but it didn't. It's just when your head hurts, music is just noise.

All of which brings me to my point. How do you feel about people "sharing" their music? If you are in your car and someone pulls up along side with the base thumping in your head or if you are patiently waiting for the bus, train, tube or trolley and you hear the "boom boom" of someone coming up next to you and they are wanting to share their music with you. It is not appreciated.

    What are your experiences?

  • What I learned from the RNC (Republican National Convention)

I am pausing a moment from ordinary life usual chit chat and Doctor Who to sound off on the Republican National Convention. I have posted this several places, but it just burns my toast.

Apparently, English is the second language for RNC, its delegates and candidates. The country's name is Iraq, not I-rack. The name of the country is Iran, not I-ran. The capitol of the United States is in Washington D.C., not WARSHington D.C. There is no "R" in Washington. Americans are afraid of nuclear proliferation, not New Clear proliferation. The name of the country is Vietnam, not vietNAM. Somebody, any English majors out there? Someone please help the RNC.

    Thank you.
    cheers,
    casseopia.

  • Series 4, Doctor Who - Pants? or Brill?

just had a piece of pizza and I am feeling fat. Oh well, adipose aside, I was just wondering how everyone thought Series 4 Doctor Who went. I vote brill. I thought it had some flaws but in general it was a very watchable series with some great stories and great ups and downs for the Doctor. What are your thoughts on Series 4?

  • The politics of Dancing and Doctor Dances

Went to work today and came home and sat down to watch the political coverage. It's a hot day in Kansas so cranked up the air conditioning. Curled up on the couch with the cats, gabbie and captain Jack Harkness. Watched on MSNBC the announcement of Joe Biden for vice president. It was an electrifying crowd of over 10,000. They contrasted that with John McCain's campaign stop where there were five guys and a cricket. Too funny. I have been thinking about the post on the welovetorchwood blog regarding David Tennant unable to watch Catherine Tate's play without fan interference. That may be the reason Chris Eccleston quit early. He saw that kind of thing coming so he got out early. Well, I am going back to watching politics. Have a good one.

  • A near full moon out tonight

Tonight I looked out the window of my apartment and saw the beautiful moon. As you know it is going farther and farther from Earth. Primitive Earth saw a much closer moon. And then there is that twin Earth thing. In the world of Doctor Who (my favorite subject) the Earth twin planet was Mondas the home of the original Cybermen. I have forgotten what the name of the real Earth twin was called. I was going to talk about politics tonight but I got so irritated with the smallness and pettiness of the campaigns-Millions dying from aids and diaspora in Africa-that I couldn't stomach some whiney people complaining about Barack Obama's preacher. So instead I am contemplating the beautiful moon outside in the sky. When you look at the moon you begin to realise just how small we are. There are millions if not billions of galaxies and how Earth man is just a tiny little speck in an outpost of the Milky Way Galaxy. That's if for tonight time to turn in and go to work tomorrow.

    Cheers,

  • It's another Saturday night..etc.,

Watching Ardal O'Hanlon on Graham Norton on BBCAmerica. He is so funny. Earlier watched 'Adam' episode on Torchwood and 'Evolution of the Daleks' Doctor Who. Ah, Saturday night, me the cats, Who and Torchwood. It doesn't get better than this.

On to politics. A bit of a dust up today between Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama regarding flyers about proposed healthcare policies of Sen. Clinton from Obama's campaign. Egads, it got ugly. I am wondering how bad their upcoming debate on MSNBC will go. I am looking forward to it, the fireworks should be visible from the US to the UK :D

    cheers,

  • A journey into the unknown

Actually it is a Friday evening in Kansas and I am watching Torchwood on the tv. Even though Torchwood and Doctor Who are my favourite subjects politics is on my mind of late. I have been watching MSNBC and CNN endlessly on their US election coverage. It is just fascinating to watch the process and I don't think in my lifetime has their such excitement created by the upcoming election. As a political junkie I just love it. The other night John Stewart was on Larry King Live and if you go to the www.cnn.com website click under Larry King videos and you can see about 20 minutes of the funniest take on politics.
